1. What makes it so difficult to achieve all three competencies—do good, stay viable, remain true to your mission?
2. Would you say that most companies find one of the three competencies naturally harder than the others?
3. How do you know if an organization is truly doing good?
4. When and where have you seen generosity to be good for business?
5. Do you agree or disagree that every organization is now expected to do good, regardless of its mission, structure, and offerings?
6. What companies do you know that have collapsed and left a city or entire region worse off because of their lack of sustainable viability? Conversely, what companies are contributing generosity the most to your community and region?
7. Has the higher degree of accountability in the business of generosity been a positive influence? Or has it led some to hesitate for fear of failure?
8. Which piece of the competency triangle do you think is most critical for your organization to focus on right now? Why?
9. What can push us off center with our mission?
10. How do the parts of the triangle—doing good, staying viable, remaining true to your mission—work together and work against each other?
