Patient Ambition

Share With Friends

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. PSALM 37:7
If you are a follower of Christ and you are ambitious, then you have to walk a tightrope that takes an intentional approach to master.
Many people think that spiritual life and personal ambition are mutually exclusive—but they are not. Jesus sought to do everything that the Father wanted Him to do, but He did not operate in a unilateral fashion. Instead, He always submitted to the Father’s will for Him, a will that led Him to His own death.
The business climate today is very competitive. There are battles to be fought on every front, both inside our organizations and out. Success in business is not certain; neither is it evil. What is certain for the follower of Christ is the will of our Father. And this means that we cannot always use the strategies and tactics of the world to get ahead. There will be times when others will beat us, move ahead of us, make more money than us, and seem to succeed even at our expense.
Nowhere does the Bible say that following Christ will not cost you something while you are here on earth. In those seasons, the correct response is to wait on the Lord. He is not unaware. He sees. He is familiar with everything that is going on in your life. He is not caught by surprise. He is still in control. Now is the time for you to rejoice and give thanks and praise Him. For great is your reward, not only in this age, but also in the age to come.
Simply be still. And wait on the Lord.
