Summarizing Principles

Share With Friends

1. Everyone always wants to be understood, all of the time.
2. The need for understanding drives many people to extreme behavior. Some act out in rash conduct while others retreat into a cocoon of mistrust and self doubt.
3. Understanding means you see my perspective. It doesn’t automatically mean that you agree with my perspective.
4. Understanding is akin to sympathy and empathy, but isn’t the same thing.
5. Understanding others requires that I lay down my quick judgment, self-interest, preoccupation, and careless flippancy.
